Finding Medical Jobs
In the UK, NHS trusts are responsible for recruiting their own medical and healthcare professionals. All vacancies are advertised on the NHS job site and the Job Centre Plus website. Alternatively, you may also consider using medical recruitment services or publications such as the BMJ for locum positions.
Due to the increased level of competitiveness within the medical job field, it is advised that you make yourself familiar with the person specification required for your preferred role. This will be highlighted in the job description when making an application. Candidates will only get short listed for interviews if they meet a minimal of three person specification requirements, in addition to their work experience assessment.
Prior to be given a job within the NHS, all selected candidates will need to go through a series of pre-employment checks which include: verification of identity, validity of work visas, evidence of qualifications, GMC registration details, criminal record check, references and occupational health checks.
Please contact your desired trust for specific job interview procedures.
